He Says Come to the River!

On our trip we stopped to visit Mammoth Springs. I guess I expected something a little more exciting, like a huge water torrent gushing from the earth. But where the spring comes out of the ground there is a huge pool of blue green water. It doesn’t look like a spring at all, it looks like a pond! And yet once you go to the first small dam you see it is rushing over the blockade with great force. I remembered that when we crossed the Spring River before we got to the headwaters, we saw many rapids and floaters moving swiftly along that flow. It is as the spring flows and flows that you see its real strength and power.

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit to connect us with Living Water. He fills us like a pool of the most refreshing water ever. We live in the peace of that pool. To us abiding in the Spirit is gentle and wide and deep. And yet, God tells us that when we believe in Him, rivers of living water will flow from our heart. Just as the Mammoth Spring gains momentum as it flows out of the dam and across the rocks, the Holy Spirit pours out from us as a mighty rushing water, overflowing and watering wherever we go.

Oh beloved, have you been to the river? Have you said yes to Christ? Are you ready to step in to all He has for you in the Spirit? Are you thirsty for more of Jesus? He says “Come and drink!” Are you ready for strength beyond yourself? Do you need the power to believe you have been forgiven and to forgive others? Do you need to see how you can have real strength even when you feel your weakest? Maybe you have a hard time making sense of all the trials, troubles, disappointments in your life. You feel that you are in a stagnant place and you are looking for something more.

Christ Himself beckons you to come deeper into the source of life. He is calling you in love to come into the water of His greatest gift. He will take your most agonizing moments and make them beautiful. He is the Redeemer of your life – He redeems everything. He washes you clean, He gives you restoration, He gives you real power to live a life of victory as you rest in His promises and live in His Word. No more struggling with the why’s of life for He is your why. In Him you live and move and having your being. He takes you out of the stagnant pool of the flesh and propels you along the mighty rushing river of His Spirit. All He wants is you. You are His beloved.

God loves you and He’s for you. There is such a momentum of the Spirit as you lavishly bathe in His Truth and trust His plans for your life you will indeed partake of the spring of living water and give out the living water as it flows and gushes and produces life in your life. He meets all your needs, every single one of them. And then He uses you to show for the praises as He takes you beyond where you could ever go on your own!

John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.

Isaiah 12:3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Acts 17:28 For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also His offspring

John 4:10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
