Ordinary to Extraordinary Over and Over

I texted one of our daughters last night and told her it looked like we’d be sleeping in a corn field! We both laughed but literally we pulled into our last chance at a room for the night as the sun was setting and we found ourselves surrounded by cornfields in a little town in northern Missouri. We finally fell into the bed God provided for us and slept like babies.

Over the years we’ve heard God’s call to do crazy things and go wild places. Sometimes we just didn’t know if we heard God for sure, but by faith we headed out. Unlikely people to be called by a Magnificent God, we pressed forward. Every time we’ve gotten real comfortable or tried to settle in for the duration, God has allowed circumstances to get us out of our comfort zone and draw us closer to Him.

We didn’t always know how far we’d go or who all we’d meet when God set us on our adventures in life. We’ve found friends in faith who we adopted as family from many states and many countries. You are some of those wonderful blessings and we are so blessed by you all. This evening we will be meeting with other believers from as far away as Australia, South Africa, Nigeria, Canada and all across the U.S. We had no idea that this was one of the blessings until we were already on our way! As we head on into Cedar Rapids today we will be attending the three day onsite conference for a Bible study we’ve been in for the last six months. We fell into this blessing of God just as we have fallen into every good and perfect thing God has ever given us.

Oh beloved, God has been bringing you closer and closer to Him. It may have looked like a punishment or an abandonment, a rejection or a humiliation. The scenery may have gone from lush tropical blessings to desolate country with no habitation or relaxation, but God was taking you somewhere. He is still taking you on the trip of a lifetime. It is full of exciting twists and turns and like us, you may find yourself sleeping in a cornfield. But God has a plan. And His plan for your life is to look beyond the ordinary and see His extraordinary! He didn’t leave you or forsake you. He is carrying you! You are not traveling alone, you haven’t been booted from anything. Rather you are traveling in the Chariot of the Holy Spirit, spurred on by the angels of heaven! Your destiny is glorious and your trip will be oh so worth it. Don’t let the scenery fool you. Just beyond the sunset is God’s morning Son. Because of His great love for you, beloved, He is beckoning you to hang on and trust Him. Your life is His, your calling is His, your home is His and your blessings are straight from His heart. Just keep going don’t stop in the field of sorrow, but keep traveling through, by God’s grace and power and fall into the lush land of new blessings He has prepared for you.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s your Truth to take you beyond the present circumstances you might not understand and get you to the next level of servanthood, Christlikeness and blessing that God prepared for you before the foundation of the world. You are His bride and He is lavishing the most wonderful blessings on you and taking you from ordinary to extraordinary as you live in the Light of His glory and grace, feasting on His Word and falling into His perfect will! Keep falling in love with Jesus and keep seeking the Father’s heart and keep moving forward by the Holy Spirit’s power for you are His beloved!

Psalm 139:5-6 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!

Psalm 138:8 The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever – do not abandon the works of Your hand.

Job 8:21 He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

I Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him. NIV

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
