God Will Heal The Stings of Life

Just as we were headed to pick out some ice cream at the store, the three youngest grands and I were prepping to get in the car. Blake went out first. We heard a blood curdling scream and as I opened the screen he came running in, “he stung me!” A wasp had managed to hit his shoulder with a powerful sting. We doctored him and put a medicine pack on his shoulder, but he was done with going to town. His mother assured him that it wouldn’t hurt forever, but it’s hard to believe when you’re the kid that’s hurting.

When the three of us returned home, Blake was feeling much better. Throughout the afternoon several people asked him how he was feeling. We offered more meds and special treats. We cared and we showed it. Nobody wants their grandbaby to hurt – and neither do the aunts, parents, cousins…

After the meal when we were all sitting around having a good time, he was playing a hand held game and he looked up to me and said, “My shoulder doesn’t hurt at all now!” We rejoiced together that the old wasp hadn’t been able to make him miserable forever.

God spoke to my heart. Often we are stung by a sudden disaster. We scream out – to anyone who would listen. Then we cry out to God. He takes us into His arms and applies the generous balm of Love to the very spot we are so terribly hurting. He speaks and says I love you. This will not hurt forever. Right now you feel the pain so intensely that you can’t imagine ever being well again. But you will realize one day that it doesn’t hurt at all. In the meantime I will love you and care for you with an everlasting covenant I made through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. You feel like you are done right now, but a day will come when you will want to romp and play and live in My will again.

In the meantime, Love Me.Stay closely to Me. Rest in Me. Don’t run around trying to find your own cure. Instead let Me heal you. For when I heal it is complete and it is forever.

Oh beloved, are you hurting? Were you shocked to find that as you were just enjoying life as a child of God you were stricken with intense pain? No pain is good at the time, but in the healing time with the Father, you will find the cure for what has stricken you – heartache, disappointment, bitterness, anger, regret, shame or insecurity. They hit at any moment with no warning. This strike took you out of your element. But rejoice, for it is designed to take you right into the Father’s arms. No disaster is meant to destroy you, but rather to remold you into knowing more fully the Love of God and even to love Him more. Your pain is not your identity for it is temporary. Your place in Christ is who you are and He came to give you life more abundantly and to restore your soul each and every time you need His touch.

God loves you. God is for you. He will heal you. He will restore you. He will comfort you and remove the sting of life no matter what hits you.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
