Our four year old grandson Caleb has been flexing his muscles a lot lately. He’s very proud of his strength. Each time he eats a hamburger he gets stronger! He and his brother compare muscles to see who’s the strongest. And when we applaud Caleb’s muscles he smiles widely and says “yes!”
We laugh about little boys learning to prove their strength and flex their muscles, but God speaks to my heart. He says aren’t you thankful that I don’t judge you the way people judge one another? I’m not looking for a people who can flex their muscles or prove they are stronger than the next guy. I don’t praise human strength; I inhabit human weakness and make it My strength.
Oh beloved, you may be feeling pretty weak right now. Someone ran over you with a barrage of words and proved that they are the biggest, baddest person around. They may have lied about you, lied to you, misrepresented the truth, distorted the facts or just kicked you out of the way. You submitted. Well done. Now the peace you stood in will turn into God’s power. At just the right time God will vindicate you. Man may have humiliated you, thinking that they proved their brute strength. But God will elevate you and give you His strength which is perfected in your weakness. Pray for those who are living below the poverty level of God’s strength and are trying to make it on their own.
And as well you no longer have to flex your muscles to prove your faith. Your strength comes as you kneel in His presence, humbly obey Him, and let Him make you into His image. Spiritual strength rises from God as you wait on Him and follow His lead, even if no one else is going that direction. He has a direction for you and He will teach you how to walk in victory, kneel in humility and advance in the Name of the Lord for His glory and honor alone.
God loves you and He’s for you . That’s why you have access to all the strength you need. As you humble yourself under God’s mighty hand His strength will become apparent through you. You will conquer the enemy, overcome adversity and live divinely as you press on in Jesus’ name.
Psalm 33:16 The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
Psalm 37:37 Look at those who are honest and good, for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.
Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
2 Corinthians 12:9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
