We got a call in the wee hours of the morning today. As I read who the call was from I knew it meant something was wrong. Sure enough as I answered I heard the tone in the voice on the other end of the line and as I listened I was shocked. A mutual friend had passed away in his sleep. Gone. We prayed together and then as I hung up the phone, Danny and I began a middle of the night conversation on the fragility of life and the quickness of home-going for this fellow believer. We cannot be sad. Stunned of course at the suddenness of their departure. But we know that going home for a believer is no punishment but rather a grand promotion right into the very presence of Christ Himself.
Life is Fragile Handle with Prayer. We are not invincible. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. But we are in a position to enjoy today and live for Jesus right now. Often we think that we can put off things till tomorrow when today is all that we have. This is the day, this is our opportunity, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for.
Oh beloved, today is your day. Whatever else is going on, whatever else is tugging at your time, your schedule or your plans. Today is your day. Your life is fragile but your faith is destined to be strong. Today is your day of privilege – you are privileged to call on the name of the Lord. You are privileged to live in the light of My Word. You are privileged to pray. You are privileged to walk in mercy, truth, joy, peace, faith and more. It is undeserved but God has given it to you by His great mercy. Don’t put off the things that He puts on your heart for you do not know when there won’t be time. Give the gifts that you want to give today. Give the kind word, the sweet gesture, the forgiveness.
God loves you with the love that is beyond reason – it is a love that hopes all, forgives all, covers all and endures all. God is for you just as you are – on your side, calling you to love, seeking your best, giving you abundance in blessings. Don’t forget that today is a gift and your life in Christ is a privilege as you open the windows and breathe in today’s air. He has a plan for your life and today is your day to live for Him in the Light of His glory and grace.
